Spanish giants brutally mock Chelsea over their dreadful record at Old Trafford following latest dismal defeat against Man United

Chelsea’s woeful recent record at Old Trafford has been mocked by Spanish giants Sevilla after the Blues slipped to another defeat against Man United.

Enzo Maresca’s side were beaten 2-1 on Saturday afternoon with the Blues paying for a nightmare start to the match.

Robert Sanchez was dismissed after just five minutes for a professional foul, with Maresca making a rapid double substitution before losing talisman Cole Palmer to injury.

Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro gave under-fire Man United a 2-0 cushion, before the Brazilian was shown a second yellow card in first half stoppage time.

While Chelsea pulled a goal back through Trevoh Chalobah with the match 10-a-side, the Red Devils held on to secure a 2-1 victory.

The defeat extended Chelsea’s miserable record at Old Trafford, which has come despite Man United’s largely underwhelming Premier League showings since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

The Blues woeful record was highlighted by Sevilla, with the Spanish side noting that they had won more recently at the stadium.

‘Last away win at Old Trafford: Sevilla 2018, Chelsea 2013,’ the club posted, adding ‘We don’t play in the Premier League.’

Sevilla were 2-1 winners in a Champions League last-16 tie back in 2018, a result which eliminated the Red Devils from the competition.

By contrast, Chelsea’s last victory at Old Trafford came in Ferguson’s last season as Man United boss in May 2013.

Juan Mata scored an 87th minute winner the Blues, who were managed at the time by Rafael Benitez.

The Blues have now drawn seven times and lost six in the Premier League since, despite the likes of Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino leading teams out at Old Trafford.

It is also 15 years since Chelsea scored more than once in a match at the stadium.

Chelsea’s record is made more surprisingly by their six Premier League wins at Old Trafford – their lowest number at a stadium they have visited more than 10 times – having all come in the Ferguson era.

Several teams have recently seen long waits for victories at Old Trafford come to an end in recent seasons amid Man United’s struggles.

Chelsea currently have the third longest winless run at the stadium of the Premier League clubs currently in the top flight, with only Brentford and Leeds United having longer waits for a win.
