Joe Aribo doubled the Saints’ lead just before the half hour mark, sweeping the ball home after superb work on the left side by Kyle Walker-Peters.
Facundo Buonanotte halved the deficit with a close-range finish after Abdul Fatawu bypassed two Southampton player in the 64th minute.
Jamie Vardy then converted a penalty to level the scoring 10 minutes later after being fouled by Ryan Fraser, who was consequently sent off.
