Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has spoken out after a WNBA game was halted by a sex toy for the second time in a week.

On Friday evening, the Chicago Sky’s game against the Golden State Valkyries was disrupted after an inappropriate object was thrown from the stands onto the court.

The bizarre scenes left fans, players, coaches and commentators shocked, while officials swiftly dealt with the fluorescent green object that interfered with play.

The shocking incident came just days after the Valkyries game against the Atlanta Dream was similarly brought to a stop after a sex toy was thrown from the stands.

Now, Cunningham has had enough. The Indiana Fever star took to social media to vent about the issue, shortly after the incident in Chicago on Friday night.

The Fever star said: ‘stop throwing dildos on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us’.

The post on X went viral and garnered over three million views on the social media platform in the space of three hours.

While no one has actually been hit by the provocative projectiles yet, Cunningham raises a fair point that it could potentially injure a player.

On Friday night, after the sex toy was thrown, officials swiftly stopped the game and swept it aside, as players and coaches stood bemused at the bizarre incident.

The commentators were equally as puzzled as they said: ‘We have a whistle away from the basketball. An object has been thrown onto the court’.

Sky star Kamilla Cardoso, however, evidently saw the funny side to the incident after being seen giggling with teammates while they game was brought to a stop.

Officials eventually swept the fluorescent green object to the side before one team member picked it up – using a towel – and disposed of it.

Cunningham, meanwhile, had made headlines of her own recently after she claimed that those who believe Caitlin Clark is not the face of the WNBA are ‘dumb as f***’.

Since her arrival in the league last year, Clark has dominated on the court and, as a result, has often found herself targeted by her WNBA rivals and fans on social media.

Last month, after Clark found herself embroiled in another on-court scuffle, it was Cunningham who retaliated and fought back for her Fever teammate.

Now, Cunningham has taken her defense of Clark to the next level after she ripped into the 23-year-old’s doubters during a recent podcast.

Speaking on the Show Me Something podcast, Cunningham said: ‘It literally p****s me off when people say she isn’t the face of the league.

‘There’s really good, well known people in our league – I’m not discrediting them. We have a lot of bad a**es in our league [and] I’m all for that.

‘But when people try to argue that she’s not the face of our league, you’re dumb as s***. You’re literally dumb as f***’.

Though many have tried to discredit Clark’s talent and hard work on the court, her growing status was best illustrated by the fact she was named an All-Star captain.
