How did you and your partner first meet, and how did your relationship evolve leading up to the proposal?
Our love story began in a way that could only be described as God-orchestrated. The very first time we met in person was at the airport. Though we had never known each other before, Sarah Jade fell into my arms weeping. That moment of raw vulnerability set the tone for everything that followed: a place of safety, honesty, and God’s presence.
Just two days later, she asked me to baptize her. That sacred moment marked not only a fresh beginning for her, but also laid a foundation of faith for the relationship we would soon step into.When I confessed my feelings, I made it clear that I only wanted to move forward if it was God’s will. Together, we chose to fast and pray in silence for a full day, committing not to speak until we both heard from the Lord. That evening, when we came back together, God had given us the same exact scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5–6). That verse became the anchor of our relationship — so much so that I later engraved it inside her engagement ring.After that, we entered a season of patience and trust. Sarah Jade spent six months overseas on missions, and during that time I waited faithfully. We built our relationship long-distance, speaking on the phone every day, growing in faith and love while the world had no idea.
Our bond deepened in the quiet, unseen places, far from the spotlight of social media.When the time came for me to propose, I had already been preparing a home in faith — long before she even knew my intentions. In a flower field, I led her into one of the most sacred moments of our lives. Before asking her to marry me, I invited her to take communion with me, sealing our covenant before God first.
Then I knelt, asked for her hand, and she said yes.From the airport embrace, to baptism, to fasting and shared scripture, to six months of waiting through long distance, to communion before our proposal — every milestone has been marked by surrender and God’s hand. What were your initial thoughts and feelings when you realized a proposal was happening? Were there any special moments or hints leading up to it?
SJ had an inclination because the weekend before we went and asked for her families blessing. She didn’t know the day but decided to get all dressed up as she saw on that Saturday I was nervous and acting weird. I told her we had plans that she didn’t want to go to because on Saturday’s we usually rest. I then looked at her and said “there’s some plans that you just can’t cancel”. And once I said that she felt as if she knew.
Can you describe the day of the proposal — where it took place, how it happened, and any special details?
The day of the proposal was in a wildflower and sunflower farm (SJ fav flowers. I actually planted someone outside our house for her and surprised her). I told SJ we were going to see our wedding venue and need dress nice because I wanted to take photos and content. As we arrived I told her to close her eyes. I then turned the mic on that I had in my pants walked her to the spot and had her open her eyes. We both began to weep. Before I asked her to marry me we took communion and prayed. After my dog, Nalu, who I started social media with, came and surprised us.
Who was the first person you told about the proposal, and how did your friends and family react?
The first person SJ told was her mom! Her whole family and friends were so extremely excited and happy for us. Carew’s family was there to help set up and support.
Looking back, what was the most memorable or meaningful part of the proposal for you?
The most memorable and meaningful part of the proposal was … the intimacy we had. Carew told the media team and his family to hide until we were ready to see them. We sat there’s for a while just taking it all in, having a private proposal. The communion we shared felt very powerful. I’ve never seen anyone do communion at a proposal before. Carew’s intentionality makes me cry every time. He goes down to every detail.
What advice would you give to someone planning a proposal for their partner?
Be intentional. What feels most meaningful to them. Choose somewhere that holds significance. You don’t need it be to be perfect, what matters is sincerity. Share why you love your partner, how they’ve changed your life, and why you want to build a future together. It can be a nerve racking moment but take a breath and remember that this is a beautiful and holy moment. A time to be fully present with your partner that you’ll never get back. Also, it’s best for your girlfriend to have an inclination than her to be mad at you… haha
Do you already have specific themes or styles in mind for your wedding day?
Our wedding day is fully planned (it’s took us 2 weeks). The themes are classic, luxury, timeless and holy.
