Six young children were pulled from the sea in a “major incident” at a popular beach, a rescue team has said.
Port Talbot Coastguard Rescue said it responded to reports of multiple children being in “serious difficulty” in the sea off the slipway at Aberavon beach, Neath Port Talbot, at about 20:30 BST on Sunday.
Three children were brought safely ashore using a throw line, it said, while rescue officers then entered the water to bring the remaining casualties to safety.
Porthcawl Coastguard, Port Talbot RNLI Lifeboat, Welsh Ambulance Service and South Wales Police also attended and all six children were assessed at the scene and transferred to paramedics for further treatment.
