Shropshire Council is pleased to announce the allocation of three community grants to local organisations delivering essential support. These investments will enhance the county’s collective response to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse with the aim to ensure more accessible, inclusive, and effective domestic abuse support is available across Shropshire. The grants are funded from the MHCLG Domestic Abuse annual grant.

PEGS (Parental Education Growth Support) will use the funding to deliver a series of professional training sessions focused on Child to Parent Abuse (CPA). These sessions are designed for frontline professionals in education, health, policing, and social care, and will support the implementation of Shropshire’s CPA policy. The training aims to improve multi-agency understanding and strengthen responses to this often-hidden and complex form of abuse.

Shropshire European Organisation will deliver multilingual, culturally sensitive workshops for Eastern European families living in rural and isolated areas of Shropshire. The sessions will focus on healthy relationships, emotional wellbeing, and navigating UK support systems—helping to reduce isolation, build resilience, and foster stronger community connections.

West Mercia Women’s Aid (WMWA) will expand its support for survivors of domestic abuse by launching a free dedicated helpline for Shropshire residents. This new service offers a confidential and accessible route to advice, guidance, and support for anyone affected by domestic abuse. Shropshire Helpline is: 0800 229 4066.

These grants form part of Shropshire Council’s broader commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and community wellbeing. By investing in local expertise and grassroots delivery, the council is helping to ensure that support is accessible, responsive, and tailored to the needs of Shropshire’s diverse communities.
