Shire Services’ Susan Vuli Wins ‘Team Leader of the Year’ at 2025 British Forces in Business Awards

Shire Services are proud to announce that General Manager, Susan Vuli, has been named the Team Leader of the Year at the 2025 British Forces in Business Awards, held last night at Grosvenor House, London.

The British Forces in Business Awards is the world’s largest celebration of ex-military in second careers, recognising the exceptional achievements of veterans who have successfully transitioned into civilian roles. Now in its eighth year, the awards shine a spotlight on the leadership, resilience, and skills that former service members bring to the workplace.

Susan’s win is a testament to her outstanding leadership in the education catering and cleaning industry. With over 25 years of experience, she has guided Shire Services, part of Shropshire Council, through some of the most challenging periods in public sector catering, while continuing to deliver high-quality services to schools, nurseries, care homes, and further education institutions.

Reflecting on her win, Susan said:

“I’m thrilled and so proud to receive this award. Being nominated among such inspiring leaders has made the win an incredible surprise.

Leading Shire Services during a time of intense pressure in education catering isn’t easy, but thanks to my resilient, forward-thinking team, we continue to adapt and proudly showcase the impact of our work in school meals.

I joined the Army at 17 and served for eight years – an experience that shaped my values and equipped me with skills I still rely on today. Being ex-forces is a privilege I hold with pride, and I’m honoured to have served alongside so many remarkable people.”

The awards ceremony brought together over 1,200 leaders from across the Armed Forces and business communities to celebrate the achievements of veterans making a difference in industries across the UK.

Susan’s recognition highlights the vital role that military-trained professionals play in the public sector and beyond – and the continued excellence of Shire Services in delivering essential services with integrity and innovation.
