See why KFC has been slammed for holding an ‘impossible’ fan challenge at a footy match

  • Fans take aim at KFC over ‘Catch the Colonel’ promotion
  • Supporter stood no chance against digital Colonel Sanders

KFC is under fire from fired-up footy fans who’ve labelled one of its recent ‘Catch the Colonel’ challenges during a rugby match as ‘impossible’.

The promotional challenge, held during the halftime break between the Blues and Chiefs Super Rugby match at FMG Stadium Waikato, sees fans get the chance to win a full year of KFC by racing a digital version of Colonel Sanders.

On this occasion, the fan didn’t stand a chance in the 60m dash, with the digital Colonel Sanders much too quick for him to catch.

Fans watching at home took to social media to post about the race, with several clips on TikTok going viral.

‘KFC stitched up this guy big time. Even Usain Bolt can’t catch the Colonel,’ posted one user.

‘If the bro left yesterday he’d still would have lost,’ replied another.

‘They ain’t tryna give away free wings for nobody,’ joked a third.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted KFC for comment.

Meanwhile, the Blues ended up stunning the minor premier Chiefs with a thrilling last-minute 20-19 victory.

The Chiefs will next play the Brumbies in the Super Rugby Pacific semi-final.

No Australian side has ever won a knock-out game in New Zealand in the almost 30-year history of Super Rugby and the Brumbies’ last three seasons have ended in semi-final defeats across the ditch.

Despite this record Lolesio said the Brumbies wouldn’t be shifting far from the game plan that helped to dispatch the Hurricanes 35-28 in their qualifying final in Canberra.

‘The Blues play a bit different to how we play but if anything, it just shows that if you show up physically with the right mindset you put yourself in a good position to win, so that’s where our heads are at as a team,’ Lolesio said on Monday in Canberra.

‘Nothing really changes for us in how we play our game right now; we know our game works and it’s very effective and efficient so we just have to back our systems in place and game plan.

‘If everyone just does their job to the best of their ability, hopefully we put ourselves in a good position to get a good result.’
