  • Came from the clouds to reach the fourth round of home slam

Fresh off a career-best result at her home major, Aussie tennis player Maddison Inglis  been able to live out a dream with her new-found riches.

The 28-year-old was able to progress to the fourth round of the Australian Open this year, and pick up $480,000 in prize money as a result.

Since her round fourth defeat to World No.2 Iga Swiatek, she has been enjoying the spoils of a life-changing week – including posting her latest acquisition, a brand-new Mini Cooper.

For her loyal fans the acquisition won’t come as a surprise. She told reporters in the post-match press conference following her defeat to Swiatek it was always a dream to own one.

‘I want to be rolling down the Gold Coast in my Mini Cooper, so that’s a dream. We’ll see how the next few months go,’ she said in late January.

The rising star has now taken to social media to reveal her new acquisition of a Mini Cooper believed to be worth about $50,000.

‘Still dreaming,’ she wrote on a recent Instagram story along with a photo of herself with the new vehicle.

She has coupled the original story with two others, and has showed off the new ride proudly.

Inglis’ run is especially remarkable because she was able to progress through three rounds of qualifying matches.

She won two marathon main draw matches, against compatriot Kimberley Birrell, and 2025 Wimbledon semi-finalist Laura Seigmund respectively.

Inglis was fortunate to then receive a free pass into round three, after her expected opponent Naomi Osaka withdrew under a cloud of controversy.

She then lost to the Polish No.2 seed in straight sets in round four.

The likeable Aussie had never reached the second week at any of the major tournaments up until her magical run in Melbourne.

But now, she is just a single spot away from a career best position in the world rankings.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a whirlwind few months.

In late December, she announced her engagement to fellow Aussie tennis player Jason Kubler.

The pair published a joint Instagram post, making the moment public knowledge.

Inglis has now won more than $1.4million in prize money across her career.

She is expected to continue climbing up the rankings in 2026.
