Mohanad Abdullaahi Goobe was killed in the attack in Moss Side

A second youth has been arrested by police investigating the alleged murder of a 15-year-old boy.

Mohanad Abdullai Goobe was attacked in the Moss Side area at 16:30 BST on 15 September and died in hospital that evening.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the boy, who is 15, was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier, and remanded in custody for questioning.

Another boy, also 15, was charged with Mohanad’s murder on Friday.

In a tribute released last week, his Mohanad’s family described him as “the baby of the family” who was “quick to laugh, easy to love, with a ready smile”.

Anyone who witnessed or has any information about the incident has been urged to contact police.

GMP said it had referred itself to watchdog the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) because it had responded to a “potentially linked” disturbance around half an hour before the stabbing.

The force had previously urged the public to not share footage of the build-up to the stabbing or the previous incident, in nearby Whitworth Park, on social media.
