Help develop new occupational standards

ScreenSkills is asking film, television and post‑production professionals to share their views on new National Occupational Standards for the screen industries. The consultation runs through December 2025 and January 2026 and aims to make sure the standards reflect current industry practices and skills needs. These benchmarks shape the qualifications and apprenticeships that help train and develop the UK’s screen workforce.

What’s being updated

ScreenSkills is reviewing and developing standards for three key areas

  • Production for film and TV – covering roles such as runners, assistant directors, production coordinators, line producers and location managers.
  • Post‑production for film and TV – covering editing, sound design, visual effects and other post‑production roles.
  • Production accounting – covering financial roles in production, from cashiers and accounts assistants to production accountants.

Find more information on the ScreenSkills’ National Occupational Standards review.

Why your feedback matters

Your input will help ensure training and qualifications match the skills employers need today. The updated standards will support recruitment, staff development, and career progression across the UK’s film and TV industry.

How to take part

ScreenSkills is hosting a series of workshops in December 2025 and early January 2026 to gather views from industry professionals. By joining the workshops, you will get the opportunity to review the draft standards and agree best practice in the industry.

You can find out more and register for the workshops on the ScreenSkills website or via the links below

You can also request more information or share your feedback directly by email at [email protected].
