Chuck Schumer branded Donald Trump a “hypocrite” after it was reported that the US president voted with a mail-in-ballot.

Trump described voting by mail as “cheating” on Monday (23 March), despite casting a mail-in-ballot himself days earlier in Palm Beach, Florida, The Washington Post reports. The US president was in the area at the weekend when early in-person voting was available.

Responding to the reports, Mr Schumer, the Senate minority leader, said: “Vote by mail is cheating when other people use it but perfectly fine when he does it himself.”

“His decision to vote by mail shows just how hypocritical Donald Trump is about fraud and cheating.”

Mr Trump has repeatedly made false claims that mail-in voting is plagued by fraud.
