Saquon Barkley is a Super Bowl champion, and he’s now set to rake in millions more after signing a huge contract extension with the Eagles this week.
Barkley became just the ninth rusher in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards after joining Philly, and helped lead the team all the way to a championship with his breakaway speed.
Now, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Eagles are rewarding the running back with a two-year, $41.2million extension which includes $36million guaranteed at signing.
Barkley will become the first running back with an average annual salary of over $20million a year, and he still has a chance to earn $15million in incentives from the initial deal he signed last year.
Barkley, after being allowed to walk by the Giants, signed a three-year, $37.75million deal with their NFC East rivals.
That proved a ridiculous bargain as he flourished behind a dominant offensive line and finished the year with a whopping 2,005 yards.

Barkley continued his exploits in the postseason as he added another 613 yards on the ground – giving him the most yards in one season (including playoffs) of any player ever.
The move to extend the All-Pro running back comes after the Eagles released a pair of defensive backs to save cap space.
Darius Slay has been designated as a post-June 1 release, according to multiple reports, which will save the Eagles $4.3million in cap space.’
Slay, 34, started every game in the postseason and earned three Pro Bowl selections as a member of the Eagles.
The Eagles also designated James Bradberry for release, with the veteran cornerback set to count more than $5.1 million against the 2025 cap.
He did not appear in a game this season after suffering an Achilles injury.
