- Anthony Seibold is now working with Collingwood in the AFL
Former Manly Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold hasn’t been out of work long, switching footy codes to link up with AFL powerhouse Collingwood.
Seibold, 51, was sacked in March following a 0-3 start to the 2026 season.
He was replaced by Kieran Foran, who has since guided his team to fifth on the NRL ladder leading into Magic Round this week in Brisbane.
Seibold confirmed on Channel 7’s Agenda Setters program on Monday he is now part of the Magpies’ coaching staff in Melbourne.
‘The last couple of weeks I’ve been doing a little bit of work for Collingwood. I know the head coach (Craig McRae) very well,’ he said.
‘I’m going to have a small role there for the rest of the season.’

Leading AFL reporter Mitch Cleary posted on X that Seibold will work with the club’s coaches and football department staff in a part-time role, assisting with off-field development.
Seibold also showed his class by stating he was relieved the Sea Eagles didn’t drag out his departure.
‘I spoke to (Manly CEO) Jason King after the (Roosters) game (in round four) and I just said, ‘Look, I feel like there’s a lot of commentary and a lot of noise around my role,’ he said.
‘I felt as though either the club needed to come out and back me and support me, or the club needed to make a decision to move me on.
‘And yeah, my gut sort of told me after the (Roosters) game that potentially they might go that way.
‘(But) rather than a long, slow death, I actually respect that it was a quick kill in many respects.’
Seibold – who was also the head coach at South Sydney (2018) and Brisbane (2019/2020) – added he would remember his time at Manly fondly, ‘although, you never want to go through what I had to do at the end.’
After replacing Des Hasler on Sydney’s northern beaches ahead of the 2023 NRL season, Seibold previously worked as a rugby union defence coach for the England national team under Eddie Jones.
