Ryder Cup supercomputer reveals favourites to win at Bethpage Black, with most likely margin of victory just ONE POINT

With the Ryder Cup just two days away, it’s time to fire up the supercomputer to find out which side is most likely to triumph at Bethpage Black.

Team USA play host this time in what will no doubt be a raucous atmosphere but Europe are the current holders, so a draw would see the trophy head back with the visitors.

It will be a tough task for Luke Donald’s men, however, as according to the supercomputer, which was produced by Boyle Sports who offer the latest Ryder Cup odds, as the USA have been given a 57.1% chance of winning.

There were 10,000 simulations to come up with the final probabilities from the model, using betting odds and historical data.

An outright win for Europe is way down at 35.3% but the 7.6% chance of a thrilling draw means the cumulative likelihood of them retaining their crown is 42.9%.

The biannual tournament is one of the jewels in golf crown and if Europe manage to silence the home crowd with a win, they’ll be the first team to retain the Ryder Cup away from home since the Miracle of Medina back in 2012.

Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Co are rated as the underdogs by the supercomputer

Europe were 10-6 down at the start of play on the final day on that occasion before staging one of the most incredible comebacks.

The likeliest final score in the 2025 Ryder Cup is USA 14.5-13.5 Europe, which has a 14.4% chance of happening.

That would be a hugely entertaining spectacle but the supercomputer also gives a strong chance of a USA blowout.

The second-most likely score provided by the model puts a massive 18.5-9.5 USA win at 12.5%.

A 19-9 home victory, meanwhile, is rated at a 5.7% chance – for context, the reverse is given a 2.3% probability of happening.

There is still some hope for Europe in the scoring margins, with the third most likely outcome given as a narrow 14.5-13.5 victory, with a 10.4% chance.

Each of the last five Ryder Cups having been separated by five points or more and the chances of a similarly one-sided contest either way are 56.8%.

The competition tees off on Friday morning at the public course 40 miles east of Manhattan.

The eyes of the golfing world and beyond will be on Bethpage Black and US president Donald Trump is expected to be in attendance on the first day.
