Warrington Wolves have signed forward Ryan Matterson from NRL side Parramatta Eels on loan for the rest of the season.
The 30-year-old, who can play in multiple positions, has played for the Eels, Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers in the NRL and has also represented New South Wales in the State of Origin series.
Matterson will fly to the UK later this week, the club said, and could make his debut against Leigh Leopards on 1 August.
“Once I touch down, it’s straight to work. I’m coming in ready to make a real impact and help drive the team towards the play-offs,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing the Super League and embracing the challenge. I can’t wait to feel the energy and passion of the Warrington fans.”
Matterson was released from his contract with Parramatta for the rest of this season in order to join Warrington but remains under contract with the Eels for 2026, the club said, external.
“It’s great to add a player of Ryan’s quality to our squad as we approach the back end of the season,” Wire boss Sam Burgess said.
“His power and presence through the middle, combined with his vast NRL experience, will bring a lot of value to our pack.”
