Ruben Amorim’s wife is reportedly unhappy with her new life after switching Lisbon for Manchester.
Maria Joao Diogo tied the knot with Amorim in 2013, and joined him in England along with their two children after he replaced Erik ten Hag as Manchester United head coach in November.
But Maria – a successful interior designer and businesswoman in her own right – has not taken to the north-west of England.
According to The Sun, talk at the United training ground is spreading that Maria is struggling to settle in Manchester due to the rain, wind and dark nights in the city.
She is not the first partner of a player or staff member at United to complain about Manchester.
Angel Di Maria lasted just 11 months at Old Trafford after joining for £59.7m from Real Madrid in 2014, but that was enough time for his wife Jorgelina Cardoso to form an unfavourable opinion of Manchester.

In an interview with Argentinean TV channel LAM in 2022, Cardoso opened on her nightmare stay.
She said: ‘Angel came to me one day and said: “Look at this proposal from Manchester United”. I didn’t want to go, I told him to go alone. “Let’s go both of us”, he replied. It was a lot of money, more than the Spaniards had offered. So, we went. If you work in a company and someone offers you double the salary, you go running.
‘We were friends with Gianinna Maradona, (former Manchester City striker) Sergio Aguero’s wife, and we travelled to Manchester on vacation for a year. It was always horrible! We came home and I said: “If you’re ever transferred, make sure it’s anywhere in the world but England.”
‘I didn’t like it at all… I can tell you. People are all weird. You walk around and you don’t know if they’re going to kill you. The food is disgusting. The women look like porcelain.
‘Angel and I were in Madrid, at the best team in the world, perfect food, perfect weather, everything was perfect. And then came United’s proposal….
‘I told him “no way, no way”, but he kept saying we will be a little more financially secure and we have to go. We fought about it… We try to be closer when things go wrong. I don’t blame him for going there. It was horrible, so horrible. I just told him, “Darling, I want to kill myself, it’s nighttime at two o’clock.”‘
After an underwhelming season at United, Di Maria was sold to PSG at a £15m loss from the price United paid the previous year.
Amorim has vowed to fight on at United, but it appears he is still trying to win his wife over when it comes to their new environment, and results on the pitch have been a problem as well.

The Portuguese boss has lost eight of his first 16 league matches since arriving from Sporting Lisbon, and his team were dumped out of the FA Cup by Fulham on Sunday.
They look destined to finish in the bottom half of the table for the first time in the Premier League era, and only have the Europa League remaining as their one chance of silverware this season.
United have been paired with LaLiga side Real Sociedad in the last-16 of the competition, with the first leg in Spain set to take place this evening.
