Amad Diallo will miss Manchester United’s clash with Brentford on Saturday lunchtime after he was given compassionate leave following a family bereavement.

Head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed that the Ivory Coast international will be absent from the squad at the Getch Community Stadium along with Casemiro, who serves a one-match suspension after picking up two yellow cards in the win over Chelsea last weekend, and injured duo Noussair Mazraoui and Lisandro Martinez.

‘Licha is out, Casemiro is out because of the red card (against Chelsea),’ said Amorim. ‘Amad is not here because someone in his family passed away. We are giving all the support to Amad and understood he needed to return home. Mazraoui will not be back until the international break. The rest are fit and ready.’

It’s understood that Diallo is staying at home in Manchester and has not travelled to the Ivory Coast.

The 23-year-old wiped his Instagram posts following the win over Chelsea at Old Trafford after coming under fire for posting a photo of himself with former United winger Alejandro Garnacho when the two players swapped shirts in the dressing-rooms.

United fans gave Garnacho a hot reception on his first return to Old Trafford after leaving for Chelsea at the end of last month in a £40million deal.

Amorim added: ‘I always say the same thing to my players: shut down social media. Nowadays it is a price you have to pay. But the important thing is that the club and the friends, that is real life for Amad we are here for him.

‘It’s a tough moment and in these kind of moments the next game is not important. We can win without Amad and we also want to win for Amad.’
