Grants for organisations running activities that contribute to community wellbeing.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 31 March 2026.

Who it is for

Applications are invited from UK organisations that operate on a not-for-profit basis and deliver clear community benefit, including

  • registered charities
  • social enterprises
  • not-for-profit organisations
  • social housing providers

Eligible projects may cover a wide range of activities that improve shared outdoor areas or support accessible community involvement, including

  • transforming community gardens
  • improving shared outdoor spaces
  • purchasing equipment for arts, theatre, music or sport

Support you can get

Rowntree’s Free The Fund Community Grant Programme is providing financial support for summer activities aimed at adults aged from 21 to 65 in communities across the UK and Ireland. 

The programme offers four awards of up to £10,000 for organisations delivering projects that improve outdoor spaces or create opportunities for local participation.

The funding is designed to strengthen local environments and enable activities that support wellbeing and social connection.
