Innovate UK is inviting businesses working in robotics and automation to apply for the Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) focusing on South Korea.
Selected businesses will take part in a structured programme designed to accelerate international growth and collaboration. The programme includes
- a preparation workshop
- a tailored five-day innovation visit to South Korea
- follow-up support to help businesses exploit opportunities and build networks
Focus areas
This GBIP targets innovative UK businesses with technologies in
- robotics and automation in manufacturing, including mobile robots and collaborative robots (cobots)
- artificial intelligence integration in robotics, such as adaptive control and vision systems
- related technologies like robotic control systems, end-of-arm tooling, system integration, modular robotics, and digital engineering (including digital twins and predictive maintenance)
Why South Korea
South Korea is a global leader in robotics, with the highest robot density in manufacturing worldwide. The country focuses strongly on advancing productivity, innovation, and intelligent automation across sectors such as automotive, consumer electronics, and smart factories. The South Korean government actively supports next-generation robotics through significant funding, incentives, and a strategic plan to grow the industry by 2030. This creates a prime market for UK businesses seeking collaborative R&D, technology exchange, and opportunities in advanced manufacturing technologies.
