Robert MacIntyre shares lewd AI Masters image over middle-finger backlash after bolting from Augusta following missed cut

Robert MacIntyre has stuck up his middle finger at Augusta National once again. This time, digitally.

The Scot risked the wrath of the powers that be at Augusta on Thursday when he was captured cursing and flipping his middle finger during a tempestuous first round of the Masters.

The world No. 8’s foul-mouthed outbursts came during a dreadful opening day that saw him shoot an eight-over-par 80. His fortunes didn’t improve on Friday when a one-under 71 couldn’t salvage his 2026 Masters.

MacIntyre fled Augusta, blowing off media requests. He never broke stride as he left the scoring area with his head down and not a whiff of an explanation for his controversial antics.

But it appears that he did have thoughts on the controversy, after all.

Instead of offering a public apology, MacIntyre mocked the incident on social media. Taking to his Instagram stories shortly after packing his bags and bolting from Augusta, he flirted with more backlash.

He shared an AI-generated image of one of the iconic Masters gnomes – one of the most coveted and talked-about items at Augusta’s merchandise tent.

The limited-edition ceramics feature a fresh variation each year and MacIntyre decided to craft his own design.

The image displayed a ceramic MacIntyre dressed in his pastel tartan polo and Nike cap from Thursday’s round, sticking his middle finger up.

The graphic even showed the miniature MacIntyre inside the white cardboard boxes that patrons fortunate to get their hands on the famous figurines are seen clutching around the grounds of Augusta.

It was reported on Friday morning that MacIntyre had been reprimanded by Augusta’s green jackets for Thursday’s expletive outburst. If that is true, he clearly hasn’t learned his lesson.

The incident in question arose after his emotions boiled over on the 15th hole, when he twice found the water and cameras caught him putting his middle finger up in the direction of his ball.

Astonishingly, he went on to make a quadruple bogey nine on the par five – despite finding the fairway with his drive.

A few holes earlier, the Scot had miscued his tee shot on the par-three 12th – the second hole of Amen Corner – and could be heard saying: ‘Jesus, f***.’

While more mild-mannered than Thursday’s round, MacIntyre’s 71 could do little to salvage his hopes of a miraculous turnaround. The double-bogey at the first did little to help.

MacIntyre did rally, in fairness, with five birdies for the day but if the opening double hadn’t already dented his chances, two more bogeys on the back nine certainly did. He finished seven-over and missed the cut.
