Rob Reiner and wife Michele’s cause of death revealed as family speaks out: Live update – UK Times

Some of MAGA world’s most fervently white nationalist and right-wing figures have condemned President Donald Trump for gloating about the murders of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner.

Nick Fuentes, a podcaster who has praised Adolf Hitler, described the president’s response to the Reiners’ killings as “evil.”

“This is ugly rhetoric. It is ugly, it is actually evil,” Fuentes said Monday.

“Forget for a moment that we are in a war – someone gets murdered by their son, it’s a horrific tragedy. This is a horrible story, and nobody deserves that. I don’t care what their politics are.”

Fuentes added that he could “overlook the fact that [Trump] is a douchebag” if the president was doing better in his second term.

“Just when you think he can’t go any lower, he somehow finds a way to do that,” the late-comic said this week of the president.

“It’s so hateful and vile. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake.

“My wife showed it to me this morning. I was like, well, even for him that seemed like too much, but nothing is ever too much for him.

“Maybe the craziest part, then he goes about his day celebrating Christmas of all things. This is how he behaves at Christmas time.”

The president’s attack on the late director has been widely covered and need not be repeated but here is a look at some of the filmmaker’s vitriolic comments about Trump over the years, which appear to have inspired his animosity.

Former first lady Michelle Obama appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday evening and revealed that she and Barack had been due to have dinner with the Reiners on Sunday evening, only for the shocking news about their fate to break.

She did not address President Donald Trump’s Truth Social post about the deceased directly but did tell Kimmel: “Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know.

“They’re not deranged or crazed. What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on, they were the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about.

“They cared about their family, they cared about this country and they cared about fairness and equity and that is the truth, I do know them.”

The Reiners’ 32-year-old son, charged with their murder, appeared briefly in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday but will not be arraigned until January 7, his lawyer Alan Jackson has said.

The couple died of “multiple sharp force injuries,” according to new records released by the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

Some of Rob and Michele Reiner’s closest friends, including actors Billy Crystal, Albert Brooks, Martin Short and Larry David, have released a statement mourning the couple and celebrating their love of film and country.

The group said in a statement first released to The Associated Press: “Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master storyteller.

“There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary, he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.”

It continued: “His comedic touch was beyond compare, his love of getting the music of the dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was simply elegant.”
