  • Ridiculous prices have been revealed in new TikTok video

Aussie motorsport fans are being reminded just why F1 is the world’s most expensive sport as they’ve been left shocked by the eye-watering cost of merchandise at the Albert Park circuit.

Supporters are being fleeced a whopping $460 for a basic McLaren jacket at the merchandise tents in Melbourne.

A basic T-shirt showing off home favourite Oscar Piastri’s driver number – 81 – is priced at $240.

The cost of Mercedes star Kimi Antonelli’s racing hat is also exorbitant, with fans asked to fork out $90.

The incredible figures, revealed by TikTok user MaybeMackenzie, have left F1 fans stunned.

‘$460 for that jacket is diabolical. (I) bought it from the official shop half price,’ one person commented on his video.

‘Racing merch is some of the worst in all of sports merchandise,’ added another.

‘I need to win the lotto to afford any F1 merch,’ said another.

Merchandise isn’t the only way the world’s premier motorsport competition hammers fans’ wallets.

Diehard supporters who want to experience the behind-the-scenes action at an F1 race must fork out thousands of dollars to do so.

Passes to the paddock – the most exclusive area of the track – are currently going for a minimum of $10,000 per person at many events on the 24-race calendar.

The tickets give fans access to the restricted area behind the pit garages at F1 races, where drivers, mechanics and team bosses like McLaren’s Zak Brown mingle with fans.

Passes at the Monaco Grand Prix are the most expensive, with fans paying a minimum of $25,000 for the tickets alone.

If supporters want a few days’ accommodation on top of that, they’ll need to pay an extra $30,000.
