San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones was in the snowball fight in New York earlier this week that left socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani deeply unimpressed.
Jones shared a video of himself at the viral fight on his TikTok account and even joked with his followers about how good he was at launching snowballs.
‘Snowball launchmaxxing,’ Jones captioned the video. He replied to a fan who said Jones was ‘throwing dots out there’ by joking that his throws were ‘absolute rippers’.
The snowball fight itself had left Mamdani frustrated as people had started to target the police officers who were on the streets after the historic blizzard hit Manhattan. There is no suggestion Jones was aiming for the cops.
‘Officers, like all city workers, have been out in a historic blizzard, keeping New Yorkers safe and cars moving. Treat them with respect,’ he said. ‘If anyone’s catching a snowball, it’s me.’
But a social media content creator was arrested Thursday after New York City police said he was one of a number of people who pelted officers with snow.

Gusmane Coulibaly, 27, was charged with obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor, and harassment, a non-criminal violation.
The city’s police department has released images of three other people it is seeking in connection with the snowball fight. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch has called the treatment of officers at the fight ‘disgraceful’ and ‘criminal.’
The 27-year-old Jones, meanwhile, enjoyed a successful 2025 season with the 49ers, deputizing for the injured Brock Purdy and leading the team to a 5-3 record as the starter.
It has led to speculation that Jones could be traded to a team that has an opening for a starting quarterback this offseason but the Niners are keen to keep hold of one of the best backups in the league.
‘Mac made this place better,’ general manager John Lynch said this week. ‘He was outstanding this season.
‘He picked us up in a huge way and it was a really fun process to watch him come in and the joy that he was playing with.
‘He’s got an infectious attitude that affects everybody on our team. It affected that quarterback room. He’s been an outstanding addition.’
It remains to be seen if a team will tempt the 49ers with a trade offer for Jones, who was drafted in the first round of the 2021 Draft by the New England Patriots.
