Harry Kane could return to the Premier League this summer due to a reported release clause in his Bayern Munich contract.
The England captain has less than two years left on his deal with Germany’s football leviathans after joining from his beloved Tottenham in 2023.
He has become a fan favourite in Munich, largely thanks to the fact he has smashed in 98 goals in 103 games. He is already on 13 this season at club level, almost twice as many as Erling Haaland.
But it is no secret that he is within striking distance of breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record, if only he played in England. Kane left Spurs on 213, just 47 off Shearer’s long-standing record of 260.
Some believe that now he has won major silverware with Bayern, lifting last season’s Bundesliga title and this year’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, he should return to smash Shearer’s record before it is too late.
And there is a pathway home for the 32-year-old, according to German newspaper Bild.

The outlet claims that Kane can leave Bayern for £56.7million this summer as long as he announces his intention to leave before the end of the winter transfer window.
In the same piece, Bild’s sports editor calls for Bayern to actually extend Kane’s deal until 2028, believing he can keep up his prolific scoring until his mid-late 30s.
Bayern have signed Nicolas Jackson on loan from Chelsea, with the possiblity of signing him permanently for £56.3m, but Kane is still the alpha male at the Allianz Arena.
On Saturday, it was a casual hat-trick against Hoffenheim – who had been high-flyers themselves – to further enhance his reputation at Die Roten.
One German journalist subsequently published an apology for doubting Kane when he had first arrived.

So far, though, he has showed no sign of intending to leave Munich, where he is enjoying life with his wife Kate and their four kids.
Over the summer he said: ‘Life is good. It’s been a great experience so far, I’m enjoying my time here, the family are enjoying it so yes, I’m looking forward to the season ahead.
And in May he had said: ‘My family are totally here.
‘You know, I think in football, in life, you never know what’s around the corner. But for me, I’m really happy here in Munich. My family has settled down. My kids are loving it here in school, so yes, this is my life here for the foreseeable future.
‘I love the manager. I love the team here. I think we’re only just getting started, to watch the movie, a really successful period for this club, and I want to be a big part of that. So who knows how many years, but for sure, I want to be here for a while.’
