Arizona Cardinals star Trey McBride admits his regret at sharing perhaps a too-honest take about his team’s fanbase.
McBride, who is one of the few stars on a struggling Arizona team, was frank on an episode of the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast in late-June where he shared his thoughts on the team’s fan makeup.
‘Living in Arizona, no one’s from Arizona. Everyone has kind of moved in from another state, so they’re all fans of their own teams, so now you have the Arizona that sits there and there’s no Arizona fans in Arizona,’ McBride explained.
‘So it’s a tough deal. Hopefully, we start winning some games and we can bring some of those fans back.’
Now, with training camp having just started for Arizona, McBride admitted that he made a mistake.
‘Yeah, I probably shouldn’t have said that,’ McBride told reporters on Saturday, via ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss.

‘It came out wrong, and obviously the fanbase is great. We have a tremendous fanbase. Arizona’s been here, loyal fans to all the sports teams here, and we’re very lucky to have a lot of these guys, and we’re going to have a great season.
‘We’re going to win games and we’re going to make sure those fans have something proud to cheer for.
‘I love it here in Arizona, and I hope they love me too, but it’s a special place. The fans are great, and I’m excited for this year to give them something to be proud of.’
The 2026 season is primed to be a tough one for the Cardinals. Not only do they have questions surrounding the long-term viability of their quarterback, Jacoby Brissett, Arizona also plays in maybe the toughest division in the NFL, the NFC West.
The Cardinals are sure to be the bottom feeders in a division featuring the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, the odds-on Super Bowl favorite Los Angeles Rams and a San Francisco 49ers team that has made the NFC Championship in three of the last five seasons.
Meanwhile, Arizona has made just a single playoff appearance in the last ten seasons.
