A Real Madrid legend has apologised for a knee slide celebration he performed after scoring against them for his current club in LaLiga on Saturday night.
The player in question netted the winner in a 2-1 victory against Carlo Ancelotti’s men to dent Los Blancos’ title hopes.
Isco denied Real Madrid victory after tucking home a penalty for Real Betis in the 54th minute of the encounter to condemn his former employers to a defeat.
But after opting to celebrate against his old club, Isco has since apologised for his actions during the game.
In the wake of Betis’ win, he said: ‘I apologized to all the Real Madrid fans for my celebration after scoring’.
‘I am very grateful to Real Madrid, they will always be in my heart’.

Isco also pointed out that, in his opinion, players should be doing more to the make the job of the referee easier.
He added: ‘Every team complains about refereeing decisions. It’s the only thing about football that bores me.’
‘All the noise about referees, the constant protests, after every game. Hopefully, we can stop these ways of trying to influence the officials.’
‘We also need to improve as players and help the officials, by not diving, not exaggerating contact, claiming we’ve been hit. We can all help each other more, referees and players, together.’
After signing from Malaga in 2013, Isco would go on to make 353 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid.
He won five Champions Leagues and three LaLiga titles and was an integral part of Zinedine Zidane’s all-conquering Madrid side that won the former three times in a row between 2016 and 2018.

In 2022, Isco moved south to spend one season with Sevilla before moving to their cross-city rivals Betis last season.
In their game against Betis, Madrid had taken the lead early on through Brahim Diaz but the home side hit back thanks to goals from Johnny Cardoso and Isco to claim all three points.
The result leaves Ancelotti’s side third in the table – two points behind leaders Atletico Madrid and level on points with Barcelona – in what is shaping up to be an intriguing fight for the title.
Barcelona will move above Atletico should they beat Real Sociedad at home on Sunday afternoon.
