Train passengers are being reminded that rail services will be suspended in some parts of Greater Manchester at the weekend.
Network Rail will close the railway in Stockport on 4 and 5 October to continue work underneath the town’s new £20m Greek Street bridge.
It will affect passengers using the West Coast Main Line Rail travelling between Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent.
The reconstruction of the bridge – which has a roundabout over the rail line – was completed during a previous 21-day closure of the railway in August.
Workers now need to remove a wall in the centre of the tracks and reinstate the road and walls on the roundabout above the bridge.
The roundabout near the A6 is set to reopen above the railway in spring 2026.
The new structure’s lifespan is estimated to be 120 years.
Network Rail said rail replacement buses would be in operation during the weekend closure.
