Funding for quantum-enabled technologies

This Contracts for Innovation competition, funded by Innovate UK, aims to support products and services that will help deliver National Quantum Strategy Missions 3, 4, and 5.

Applications are sought for Phase 1 projects focused on producing maturity studies for quantum-enabled technologies across sectors such as healthcare, transport, telecoms, energy, and defence.

Projects can range in size from £500,000 to £1.5 million and must run for up to seven months.

Projects must use second generation quantum technologies, or your product roadmap must include a plan for the incorporation of second generation quantum technologies.

Second generation quantum technologies are defined as those involving the generation and coherent control of quantum states, resulting in phenomena such as superposition or entanglement. Technologies involving single photon generation and detection are in scope.

Deliverables for Phase 1 include a Product Maturity Plan and a Product Performance Report. These outputs will inform selection for a potential Phase 2 competition, subject to performance and available funding.

Only successful Phase 1 participants will be invited to apply for Phase 2. This competition does not fund procurement of end solutions. Future adoption of technologies would be subject to separate procurement processes.

Potential applicants can register to join a briefing event on 4 June 2026 to find out more.

The deadline for applications is 11am on Wednesday 2 July 2025.
