  • Morgan Gibbs-White had to sit on the floor on a train during a trip to London

Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White was forced to slum it on the floor during a trip to the capital days after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-final by Manchester City.

The 25-year-old, who earns £80,000 a week, had to make do on the ground because no seats were free on his overbooked train during a day out with his girlfriend.

The midfielder put in an impressive display at Wembley as Forest’s cup dreams were shattered on Sunday and was embraced by Pep Guardiola at full-time.

The England international struck the woodwork twice and apologised for the ‘devastating’ loss in his post-match interview.

‘I feel sorry for the fans. I hold my hands up and apologise. I should have scored at least one of them chances,’ he said.

The following day Gibbs-White joined girlfriend Britney De Villiers for a jaunt in London but was left seatless due to an overfilled train.

The pair have been going out for six years and have a son together.

They dined at boutique Asian-Italian fusion restaurant Sumosan Twiga in Knightsbridge, paying £62 for a black cod main and a side of chips.

De Villiers, 25, a South African law graudate, said: ‘We woke up and decided to take a last minute trip to London. Because we didn’t pre book the train, the train was overbooked and there were no seats.

‘So we just had to chill out in this area, Morgan was on the floor and I got to sit on the suitcase so that I wasn’t touching the floor. Love that from him.’

Last month the pair announced they were expecting their second child in a touching social media post.

The couple shared a video of them revealing the news to their son Graysen, who was decked out in a ‘Big Brother’ jumper.

They could be seen showing the youngster some new baby clothes as well as scans of his future sibling.

De Villiers accompanied the post with the caption: ‘Soon to be parents of 2 under 2.’

Gibbs-White has enjoyed a productive season, scoring five goals and providing nine assists, as Forest look to qualify for the Champions League for the first time since 1980.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have defied pre-season expectations and they are now within touching distance of a European campaign next season.

They sit in sixth but have a game in hand on third placed Newcastle, who are only two points ahead.

Gibbs-White’s performances under Espirito Santo earned him an England debut, handed down by interim boss Lee Carsley last September and he returned to the squad for World cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.

He was originally left out but replaced the injured Cole Palmer, earning praise from England boss Thomas Tuchel.

The former Wolves academy joined Forest in an initial £25million move three years ago and has a contract at the City Ground until the end of the 2026-27 season
