Controversial Port Adelaide great Warren Tredrea has been dismissed from the board of the club after he refused to apologise over antisemitic comments made on his podcast by a guest.
In June, the club launched a review over online content on the former Port Adelaide captain’s Instagram account.
The controversy surrounded Tredrea’s podcast guest, British army veteran AJ Roberts, and the comments he made on The Ballsy Show in May, which caused outrage in the Jewish community
Roberts referred to Israel as a ‘fake state’ and said it was created by ‘the same Zionists who were controlling World War II’.
He also said Israel was behind the creation of terror group ISIS and also claimed the 9/11 terrorist attacks were carried out by Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel.
At the time, Jewish Council of Australia boss Max Kaiser condemned Roberts’ comments regarding Israel and the 9/11 terror attacks.

He said the podcast was an ‘amplification of far-right antisemitic conspiracy theories’.
Tredrea insisted he was not ‘in any way, shape, or form, an antisemite, and consider it defamatory for anyone to accuse me as such’.
On Friday, Port Adelaide said Tredrea would depart the club and criticised their former player for refusing to issue a public apology.
‘The board sought to engage with Mr Tredrea to agree certain actions to be taken by him in his capacity as a director,’ a club statement read.
‘Amongst other things, the board formally requested that Mr Tredrea agree to a club statement which included an apology to the club and anyone who took offence to the comments made on his podcast by Mr AJ Roberts.
‘Mr Tredrea refused to agree with the public apology request to close out the matter. The board has afforded Mr Tredrea numerous opportunities to reconsider his position, which he has not changed.’
In response, Tredrea, who kicked 549 goals across 255 games between 1997 and 2010 as a one-club player for Port, said he was concerned by the club’s direction.
He said he would make further comments in the future but the 46-year-old issued a statement on Friday afternoon.

‘Thank you to all PAFC members for the opportunity to represent you — it’s been an enlightening couple of years, something I felt was important to do for PAFC,’ he said.
‘I am concerned about the actions taken by a number of important people at our club which have led to my dismissal today.
‘I will be making further and fuller statements in the future but for now I’d just like to wish Josh, Lauren and the entire AFL, AFLW and SANFL playing group every success going forward.’
Tredrea had been a board member of the Port Adelaide Football Club since February 2024.
The dismissal comes after he lost a legal battle with Channel Nine, where he worked as a sports presenter.
Tredrea claimed his contract was ended because he refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
But the Federal Court sided with Nine’s counter-argument that his position was not going to be renewed because of his performance.
In August, Tredrea was forced to pay $149,000 to cover legal costs that were amassed by Nine.
