England suffered a security breach at their Kansas City World Cup base after an intruder made his way into the venue.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have been based in the largest city in the state of Missouri throughout the tournament, with its central location viewed as ideal for travelling around to matches.

However, earlier this week, police were called to the media centre, KC Parks, which is a short drive from England’s training centre at Swope Soccer Village.

A man, who had strolled into the venue carrying a wrench and raising his voice, was subsequently arrested.

The man appeared to be distressed upon his entry, and he was ultimately ushered out of the media centre and disarmed.

Kansas City police detained the individual, who had tried to leave the location after he heard sirens in the area.

Despite the breach, it is understood that the intruder did not threaten anyone.

Media centre staff, members of the FA and journalists were present at the time of the incident.

Thomas Tuchel, his assistant manager Anthony Barry and players were preparing to carry out press duties at the time yet none of them came under threat from the intruder either.

England are back in action on Saturday evening when they take on Norway in their World Cup quarter-final in Miami.

The Three Lions are set to fly to the coastal city on Friday morning, although there are a few question marks surrounding their team due to injury, illness and suspension.

Reece James returned to training in a boost this week, yet given he suffered a hamstring injury against Ghana in the group stages, it remains to be seen how he holds up.

Back-up right back Jarell Quansah was also hit with a two-game suspension after his red card against Mexico, while Marc Guehi has a hamstring niggle.

Declan Rice, meanwhile, continues to battle hamstring and back pain, and he has missed the last two days of training due to illness.
