Pedro Pascal fans did a double-take when the actor walked the Oscars red carpet Sunday night, thanks to his unrecognizable new look.
While The Last of Us actor looked slick in a white Chanel suit, he was noticeably missing what some people would deem to be his signature style: his facial hair.
Pascal, who is known for his mustache and chin stubble in particular, appeared completely clean-shaven and sparked comments from fans that ranged from confusion to utter disdain.
“Pedro Pascal without any facial hair should come with a warning because my first thought was why is his face naked,” one person wrote on X.
“I didn’t realize Pedro Pascal without facial hair was an option but I like it,” another person wrote.
Some fans mourned Pascal’s mustache, expressing that he looked like a completely different person.
“I need Pedro Pascal to grow his facial hair back plz,” one person wrote on X, while another agreed, writing, “Oh Pedro Pascal I’m gonna need you to grow that facial hair again.”
“Pedro Pascal needs to go home, find a new outfit, and figure [out] how to grow his facial hair back within eight minutes because…” wrote a third.
Other social media users joked about the Materialists actor conveniently showing up on the red carpet with no facial hair, just as Leonardo DiCaprio showed up with a mustache of his own.
“It looks like Leonardo DiCaprio and Pedro Pascal have swapped facial hair,” one person wrote on social media.
“Why did Pedro Pascal and Leonardo DiCaprio exchange facial hair?” another person asked in their own post.
However, some comments were more diplomatic, with one person writing, “I didn’t realize Pedro Pascal without facial hair was an option but I like it.”
The actor previously told LADbible in a July 2025 interview that he wouldn’t look good without his signature mustache and had no intentions to shave it.
“I grow such sh****y facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off… I really look very [awful],” he said at the time. “Strongly disagree with a clean-shaven me.”
However, he did need to go clean-shaven at one point for the 2020 movie Wonder Woman 1984. Because of that experience, he insisted he would not shave again for a role unless it is “completely necessary.”
“In Wonder Woman 1984, I was so appalled by the way I look. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I never have gone back unless it were completely necessary,” Pascal said.
It is currently unknown whether Pascal has shaved his facial hair for an upcoming movie role.
