Super Bowl injury reports are still a day away. But, after an ill-advised late-night run to In-N-Out burger with teammates, New England Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson was already adding his name to the list Tuesday morning.

‘I was hurting a little bit,’ he told the Daily Mail in Santa Clara, where the AFC champions are preparing for Super Bowl LX. ‘I may not be back.’

The 23-year-old running back was joking and still expects to play Sunday against Seattle, despite his grilled-beef transgressions. Furthermore, quarterback Drake Maye and center Garrett Bradbury are also expected to be fine after dining with Henderson on Monday.

Still, Henderson’s intestinal discomfort was genuine and, as he told the Daily Mail, likely caused by his own sizable order.

‘I got two double cheeseburgers, ketchup and cheese only, some fries,’ he said. ‘It did me bad.’

The beloved West Coast burger chain is something of a delicacy for East Coasters like the Virginia-born Henderson as well as Maye and Bradbury, both North Carolinians.

Henderson joked to the Daily Mail that he was ‘hurting’ after In-N-Out and ‘may not be back’

In addition to the food, the outspoken Christian also appreciates the references to Bible verses tucked under the bottom lip of the burger chain’s paper cups. The practice began in the 1980s and reflects the founding Snyder family’s religious faith, which continues under owner and heiress Lynsi Snyder.

‘One thing I like the most about them is they got the little bible verses on their little cups and the packaging,’ Henderson said. ‘I like that.’

Maye, though, prefers the New York-founded Shake Shack to In-N-Out, as he told reporters Tuesday: ‘As an East Coast guy, I grew up on Shake Shack. But In-N-Out? I’ve gotta go with Shake Shack [for] the burger.’

Regardless of his allegiances, Maye still joined teammates on Monday at the In-N-Out franchise in Santa Clara.

Naturally onlookers were stunned to see NFL stars in a fast-food joint in the days before any game, let alone the Super Bowl.

‘I feel like it surprised them, of course,’ Henderson told reporters.

But while Henderson admits the timing of this trip was a bit odd, he doesn’t think fans should ever be stunned to see players making a burger run.

‘I feel like sometimes they don’t understand, we human just like everyone else,’ he said. ‘We got to eat. We got to go to the grocery store, wherever. You might see me at places you’d never thought I’d be there.’

Onlookers were able to get a few pictures of the players on their way out, but as Henderson explained like in the franchise’s vernacular, they weren’t in there very long.

‘We was in and out,’ Henderson said. ‘People was taking pictures while we were eating and stuff like that, but we were actually in and out.’
