New England Patriots star Morgan Moses is set to land himself a stunning $1.5 million payday for simply playing in their game this weekend.

The Patriots will take on the struggling New York Jets on Sunday afternoon, where offensive tackle Moses will take to the field against his former side.

In doing so, Moses will pass the ’90 percent playtime threshold’, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter, which will see his bank account get a hefty $1.5 million boost.

The game itself is hardly one that Moses is required to play in, given that the Patriots have already secured a playoff berth, while the Jets have nothing to play for.

Further reports also suggest that, in a bizarre twist, the huge payday for Moses could also benefit the Jets in the long-run.

According to Nick Korte, by Moses earning the playtime incentive, it will likely raise the value ‘of his contract in the compensatory formula to the 5th round, thus upgrading a 7th round 2026 comp pick to a 5th for the Jets’.

In recent weeks, a number of NFL teams have been forced to make cutthroat decisions over whether to field certain players in the final games of the season.

The Raiders, in particular, have found themselves in a tricky situation after opting to shut down pass rusher Maxx Crosby for the remainder of the season.

The star defensive end was unhappy after being shut down for Sunday’s clash with the New York Giants and reportedly walked out the team’s facility in response.

Coach Pete Carroll claimed Crosby had a knee injury that ‘looks too bad’ and then, on Saturday night, it emerged that the 28-year-old is expected to need surgery after being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

But Crosby had reportedly been ‘fighting’ to play and ‘vehemently disagreed’ with the decision. He then sent a pointed message to the Raiders, which is part-owned by Tom Brady.

On Saturday, the 28-year-old posted several clips of himself shooting hoops at home, where he could be seen running around the court. In other photos, Crosby could be seen jumping on a trampoline with his young daughter.
