Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce is expanding his business portfolio by purchasing a stake in a baseball team, leading to teammate Patrick Mahomes doing some light trolling.
Kelce is purchasing a minority stake in the Cleveland Guardians, his hometown baseball team, as announced by the team.
The native of Cleveland Heights celebrated his new purchase, only for Mahomes to brutally remind him of how bad his pitching is.
The quarterback shared a video of Kelce throwing out the first pitch at a Guardians game back in 2023.
It went disastrously, with Kelce’s throw spiking straight into the ground roughly halfway in front of home plate
‘Congrats! @tkelce,’ Mahomes, who owns a stake in the division rival Kansas City Royals, captioned his post.

Kelce shared his excitement for owning a piece of a team that he loved to watch growing up.
‘I have so much love for this city,’ Kelce told ESPN. ‘I say it all the time: I’m just a kid from the Heights living the dream.
‘I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic. Cleveland Heights is such a diverse and dynamic place. Every friend, neighbor, teacher and teammate — they all made me the man I am today.’
Kelce added, ‘I’ve been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to good ownership in my career, and I know the best teams prioritize culture.
‘Everyone is there to play their role, and right now, I’m here to observe and learn and really to support the team and the city when and where I can.’
The Guardians are owned by the Dolan family, however, investor David Blitzer holds a 25 percent stake with an option to become the team’s controlling owner in 2028. The ballclub is currently valued around $1.7billion.
This is not the only sports enterprise Kelce owns. With Mahomes, he purchased a minority stake in the Alpine Formula 1 Team in 2023.
