Paddington The Musical emerged as the undisputed champion at the 2026 Olivier Awards, sweeping multiple categories, while Rosamund Pike made a triumphant return to the stage after nearly 14 years to claim the coveted Best Actress prize.

The beloved bear’s theatrical adaptation, staged at the Savoy Theatre, was crowned Best New Musical.

Its cast also garnered significant recognition, with James Hameed and Arti Shah jointly winning Best Actor in a Musical.

Further accolades for the production included Victoria Hamilton-Barritt for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical and Tom Edden for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

The show’s creative excellence was also celebrated, with Luke Sheppard receiving the Sir Peter Hall Award for Best Director, and Gabriella Slade and Tahra Zafar taking home Best Costume Design, alongside Tom Pye and Ash J Woodward for Best Set Design.

Rosamund Pike’s compelling performance in Inter Alia at the National Theatre secured her the Best Actress award, marking a notable comeback to the London stage. Jack Holden was named Best Actor for his role in Kenrex at The Other Palace.

Other significant acting honours included Rachel Zegler, who won Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Evita at The London Palladium. Paapa Essiedu was recognised as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for All My Sons at Wyndham’s Theatre, while Julie Hesmondhalgh received Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Punch at the Young Vic and Apollo Theatre.

James Graham’s Punch also secured the Best New Play award. In the revival categories, Arthur Miller’s All My Sons was named Best Revival, and Into The Woods at Bridge Theatre won Best Musical Revival.

Further awards included Giles Thomas for Best Sound Design for Kenrex, and the Noel Coward award for Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play went to Cole Escola’s Oh, Mary! at Trafalgar Theatre.

The Boy At The Back Of The Class, adapted by Nick Ahad, was celebrated as Best Family Show. Fabian Aloise received the Gillian Lynne Award for Best Theatre Choreographer for Evita.

Aideen Malone and Roland Horvath were awarded Best Lighting Design for Into The Woods. Chris Fenwick and Sean Hayes received the Outstanding Musical Contribution for Good Night, Oscar.

The Glass Menagerie at The Yard Theatre won Best New Production in Affiliate Theatre, while Into The Hairy by Sharon Eyal for S-E-D at Sadler’s Wells was named Best New Dance Production.

English National Opera’s Dead Man Walking at London Coliseum secured Best New Opera Production, rounding off a memorable night for British theatre.
