The story of the past year told through the voices of people who experience Adult Social Care in Shropshire

In the Local Account, also known as Our Story Continues, the council shares what happened during its recent Care Quality Commission inspection, what it means for the support it gives to vulnerable people, how it is performing overall, and where to focus on making improvements.

Their stories show the impact of the council’s work and the difference it makes every day.

Ruth Houghton, portfolio holder for adult social care said:

As Portfolio Holder for Adult Social Care, I’m proud that Shropshire’s Local Account 2024/25 reflects the commitment, professionalism and compassion shown by our staff and partners every day.

This Local Account is not just a celebration of what has been achieved, through the voices of people who experience adult social care in different ways, it is a clear statement of our ambition.

The Care Quality Commission’s ‘Good’ rating recognises Shropshire’s strong, person‑centred practice and effective partnership, yet we know there is more to do.

This publication demonstrates our determination to keep raising standards and supporting residents to live independent, fulfilling lives in their communities.’
