The Open Innovation Team is a government unit that works with experts to generate analysis and ideas for policy.

While most of our customers come to us for a blend of engagement, research synthesis and policy development, many also choose to focus solely on external engagement – especially for large-scale or long-term projects.

Our Engagement Services are built to support every stage of your project

Planning

We’ll work with you to design a tailored engagement strategy and delivery plan. Whether your project lasts several weeks, a few months or stretches over a year, we ensure that the plan meets your objectives and stakeholder needs while working within any constraints.

Delivery

We can take the lead or work alongside you to deliver high-quality events, such as meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences. We’ll also manage the logistics, coordination and provide regular reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).

Reporting

Once the engagement is complete, we provide clear, actionable insights summarised from each event. This includes capturing feedback, identifying key themes and offering recommendations to guide follow-up actions and next steps.

Our approach combines rigour and creativity, drawing on methods like co-design, targeted campaigns and innovative tools such as AI-assisted insight mapping to ensure the most meaningful outcomes.

Examples of our work

We have worked with a wide range of government departments and external partners on diverse projects

  • Ministerial visits and stakeholder events We’ve facilitated nationwide ministerial visits and other high-profile events, collecting input to inform long-term strategies such as a national 10-year action plan.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Collaborating with the Department for Education, we’ve run workshops and peer-to-peer learning events with Local Authority teams delivering SEND services in schools.
  • Land Use Dialogues Programme In partnership with the Geospatial Commission, we explored land use implications for key government policies through workshops and videos, helping to shape future land use strategies.

To see how our engagement services could support your work, we’ve put together a slide pack with examples and testimonials.
