- Rumours have circulated online that Olympic star Ana Peleteiro may be pregnant
- She has now revealed the real reason behind her ‘swollen’ belly in recent photos
An Olympic star has responded to online rumours that she has fallen pregnant.
Spanish triple jumper Ana Peleteiro, 29, won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and finished sixth in the same event in Paris last year.
Peleteiro shares a two-year-old daughter with her French triple jumper husband Benjamin Compaore, 37, after giving birth in December 2022, and fans believed she may be pregnant again after seeing photos of her at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid earlier this week.
However, Peleteiro has denied that she is expecting another child, and has revealed the real reason behind her ‘swollen’ belly.
‘My friends, I’m not pregnant,’ she confirmed on Instagram. ‘And I’d rather clarify that before you keep asking me and assuming it’s a given.
‘If my “belly” was a little noticeable, it’s basically because I’m on my period. Thank God I have a wonderful body that works as it should, and every 28 days, it makes me a little/quite swollen.’

Peleteiro added: ‘We are not looking to get pregnant, nor do I intend to be one anytime soon because right now my priority is my work and jumping very far. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone.’
Peleteiro won the European Indoor Championships earlier this year for the second time after becoming European champion outdoors in 2024.
She is set to complete a two-week training camp in Italy in the coming days as she gears up for another big year.
The 2025 Diamond League – which pits the world’s best athletes against each other over 15 race meets – is due to get underway later this week in China.
Peleteiro will not compete in China, but could be involved in other events later in the year before the World Championship takes place in Tokyo in September.
She has never won an outdoor World Championship medal, with her best finish being sixth back in Doha, Qatar in 2019.
