A woman who travels Britain on a free bus pass to pick up litter has urged people to join her war on rubbish.
Retired nurse Ruth Major, 80, told Radio Manchester that her pastime became “addictive” after a while.
“It’s very satisfying when you know you’ve cleaned your local park, or a little bit of greenery around where you live… and I think once you start it, please start it and don’t ever finish until we’ve cleared the streets and areas of all the rubbish that’s lying around,” she said.
Ruth, who is from Oldham but now lives in Cornwall, estimated she had collected more than 100,000 bits of rubbish since starting her campaign.
