A 50-year-old man was found dead in a property in Eldon Street, Oldham, police said

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 50-year-old was found dead at a property.

Greater Manchester Police was called to reports of the suspicious death of a man in Eldon Street, in Oldham, at about 19:50 BST on Wednesday.

His cause of death had not yet been determined, police said, and his family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.

A 64-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Det Insp Andrew Barrett from Oldham CID said: “We are working hard to understand what has happened and get the answers his family deserve.

“At the moment, the man’s cause of death is undetermined, but inquiries are ongoing, and we have made an arrest to progress this investigation forward.”

Det Insp Barrett urged anyone with information to contact the force.

Officers remain in the area for reassurance and to conduct inquiries, a GMP spokesperson said.
