The condition of a police officer left critically injured in a crash while on duty has improved in hospital, a police force has confirmed.

Thames Valley Police said PC Christopher Miller was no longer in a life-threatening condition following the road traffic collision on the B416 Bells Hill in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire, on 22 May.

In total, five people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The force thanked well-wishers and added: “While PC Miller’s prognosis has improved, he remains in hospital in a critical condition.”

PC Miller was “involved in a collision with a white BMW vehicle, which did not stop at the scene, on the B416 Bells Hill”, at about 22:22 BST on 22 May, it added.

The five arrests include Simranjit Kajla, 28, who has been charged with attempted murder, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance.

Mr Kajla, of Lydford Avenue in Slough, is next due at Reading Crown Court on 23 June.

A 29-year-old man from Slough, arrested on Thursday on suspicion of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice, has been released on bail, until 15 August.

A 38-year-old man from Slough was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and was released on bail.

A man and woman, also from Slough were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.

The woman, 37, was released on bail while the man, 43, was released under investigation.
