  • Aaron Woods poked fun at recent incident
  • Mitchell Moses’ player agent is Isaac Moses
  • Origin opener in Brisbane on May 28

NSW Blues star Mitchell Moses was no doubt excited to be in Origin camp this week ahead of the series opener on May 28 – but close friend Aaron Woods left him red-faced during an interview.

Woods – who himself chalked up 14 appearances for NSW between 2013 and 2017 – has turned his attention to the media after retiring from the NRL last year.

Along with fellow NRL star Beau Ryan, the prop made his way to the Blues media day in Sydney – and he had Moses in his sights.

Woods boldly took on the persona of a journalist – and chaos followed.

‘Mitch, it’s Aaron Woods from Triple M,’ he began when interviewing his former Wests Tigers teammate.

‘I’ve just got off the phone with (player agent) Isaac Moses and he said you can’t do anymore print (interviews).

Moses responded with a laugh before stating he ‘agreed’ with the request – but Woods wasn’t done yet.

He quipped that ‘Mick Chammas is on his way down’, a reference to the recent fall out between Isaac Moses and the Sydney Morning Herald sports reporter.

Leading player agent Moses and Chammas don’t see eye to eye – and Moses reportedly demanded ahead of a recent 100% Footy show on Channel 9 that the respected scribe not feature on the panel.

The influential Moses got his wish, with Chammas replaced by colleague Danny Weidler ahead of Mitchell Moses appearing on the show as a guest.

It sparked widespread anger among viewers, media professionals and former players, with many believing it highlights the growing influence of player managers within the code.

Sportsbet duo Cooper Johns and Hammy Goodman also referenced the tension between Isaac Moses and Chammas – but the Blues five-eighth – who is the player agent’s nephew – was all smiles following the jibe.

Meanwhile, NSW Blues fullback Dylan Edwards has backed Moses to thrive in his switch to the left edge where he will play against Queensland.

‘It’s a little bit of a challenge with everyone coming from different clubs and systems but that’s our focus at the moment, our defence,’ he said.

‘We’re putting a fair bit of work and bit of video on that. Luckily there’s a lot of boys who were here last year too so we’ve got a bit of familiarity around that.

‘Moses will be alright. He’s a good defender.’
