Scotland rounded off their World Cup preparations with an emphatic 4-0 hammering of Bolivia in New Jersey last night.

In their final warm-up friendly before their opening Group C clash against Haiti next weekend, Steve Clarke’s side battered the Bolivians and scored all four goals in a dominant first half.

Che Adams scored twice, along with one apiece from Lawrence Shankland and Scott McTominay, as Scotland secured a confidence-boosting win.

With temperatures soaring well past 30 degrees celsius, Clarke’s side were too hot to handle for their South American opponents.

The Scots had more chances in the second half and could have won by an even greater margin against a Bolivian side who have not qualified for the World Cup.

‘It was a good performance and it was good to score a few goals and get the win,’ said Scotland striker Shankland.

‘It was our last game before the real stuff starts. I thought we did a lot of good stuff and we’ve built some confidence. We controlled the game really well and can be happy.

‘It’s just excitement now. This is when the real games start now. We’ve done the two warm-up friendlies, everyone is just buzzing now to get started.

‘It was good to play alongside Che. I think we worked well together and we both managed to score. All you can do is give the manager a decision to make in terms of selection.

‘It was a good win for us. We’ll move on now and have another good week of training before the real stuff starts next weekend.’

Clarke was satisfied with a good night’s work at the Sports Illustrated Stadium but cautioned that next week’s opener will be a different challenge.

‘It was a good performance, another four goals, and I was pleased with no injuries as well,’ said Clarke.

‘We spoke this week about being more clinical higher up the pitch, so it was nice to be able to do that.

‘The front two were good and, to be fair, the whole team were good in that first half. Ben Gannon-Doak was excellent off the right.

‘We are as well-prepared as we can be. But next week is a different ball game. It’s a World Cup. Haiti are a really good side.

‘It will be up to us to put on a performance. We have waited a long time for this [to play in a World Cup]. It will be great.’
