Nottingham Forest SACK Sean Dyche: Evangelos Marinakis dismisses his THIRD manager of the season after woeful draw against Wolves

Sean Dyche has become the third manager to be sacked by Nottingham Forest this season after a goalless draw with Wolves left them firmly in relegation trouble.

Appointed only last October, Dyche follows Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou out of the door. When he took over, Forest were two points adrift of safety and he departs with them three points above the drop zone.

Dyche had 22 league games in charge, taking 18 points from those matches. The 54-year-old also guided Forest into Europa League play-off round, where they will face Fenerbahce over two legs, with the first game in Istanbul next week.

‘We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the Club and we wish them the best of luck for the future,’ the club said in a statement confirming Dyche’s dismissal late on Wednesday night. ‘We will be making no further comment at this time.’

Daily Mail Sport understands former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is a contender to take charge. Pereira was sacked by Wolves last November after a dire start to the season, though the Portuguese did an outstanding job to lead Wolves to a comfortable safety after taking over in December 2024.

Three bosses, seven league wins this season…

Nuno Espirito Santo – 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss – Four points

Ange Postecoglou – 0 wins, 1 draw, four defeats – One point

Sean Dyche – 6 wins, 4 draws, 8 defeats – 22 points

He said: ‘If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him. That’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.

‘But I’m not questioning the owner here. He’s been absolutely fair with me from the beginning to the end, and I’ve been fair with him and told him the truth every step of the way.

‘That’s the way it goes. I’m a realist. I understand that the noise here has changed significantly since the last few games.

‘Demand is high. That’s changed enormously in probably the last two years. Demand is getting higher and higher. Expectation immediately grows. So if the owner wants to change, that is entirely up to him, but there’s no lack of respect for me to the owner on how he’s been.

‘When I came to this job I was under no illusions whatever. (The club) were unlikely to blast their way through the superpowers of football again [as they did last season].

‘There is no easy way through the Premier League. We are not on a bad run but we are at the wrong end of table and the results tell the truth of situation. [The scrutiny] seems to come quicker – everyone wants more and wants it quicker.’
