The Nintendo Switch 2 was finally revealed at the start of the month, but pre-orders for the successor to Nintendo’s flagship console have been selling out fast. Retailers are routinely dropping fresh stock, but you’ll need to be quick if you want to secure one. Right now the console is in stock at ShopTo.net, and we’re tracking other potential restocks live.
The console officially went live last week, and Very, Argos, Amazon, Smyths Toys, HMV, Game, EE and John Lewis & Partners all dropped pre-orders. That said, stock flew off the shelves, and we’re eagerly awaiting more availability.
If you’re in the US, Switch 2 pre-orders were originally set to go live on 9 April, but plans shifted after delaying pre-orders due to concerns over Trump’s tariffs and “evolving market conditions”. However, the date for pre-order invites via the My Nintendo Store hasn’t changed – those are still scheduled to start rolling out from 8 May. Eligible players can register their interest now, but invites are only going to those with at least 12 months of paid Switch Online membership and 50 hours of gameplay before 2 April.
If you’re hoping to secure a Switch 2 ahead of launch day, we’re tracking all the latest updates and live pre-order drops from all the major retailers. Keep checking back for real-time updates as pre-orders roll out.

Your mid-afternoon Switch 2 stock update
Outside of the ShopTo restock, it’s a relatively quiet day for Switch 2 pre-orders.
Those EE and Argos restocks are yet to materialise, while even bigger retailers like Amazon have failed to come through with the goods. Rest assured that we’re across the UK’s top retailers, and with many shops like John Lewis and Very tending to drop fresh consoles later in the afternoon, we could still see some more pre-orders today.

Is the new Pro controller worth it?
You might see the Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with the new Pro controller. What’s all that about?
Nintendo’s new pad is a big upgrade over the original pro controller, adding customisable buttons on the grip, improved analogue sticks, a 3.5mm audio jack and HD rumble effects. Even the face buttons feel more premium.
You’ll notice the new rumble effects when powersliding in Mario Kart World and chucking rocks around in Donkey Kong Bananza, where the pro controller delivers detailed and tactile feedback as you play.
The pro controller can be pre-ordered separately and costs £74.99. Unlike the console itself, the controller is readily available.

Read my hands-on preview of the Nintendo Switch 2
If you’re reading a Switch 2 stock tracking liveblog but are somehow not yet convinced you want to buy one, you might want to read my hands-on impressions of Nintendo’s new console.
I was among the first people in the world to play games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, and I solemnly abide by the stock tracker’s oath to always update the liveblog before pre-ordering a console for myself – under penalty of death.

Still no standalone consoles available
Beggars can be choosers. If you’re looking for the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 for £395.99 or the official Mario Kart World bundle for £429.99, don’t fret. We’re continuing to track available stock across UK retailers to bring you the latest updates as they happen.
In the meantime, the cheapest bundle you’ll find is at ShopTo.net, where the console comes with the Switch 2 camera and a third-party carrying case for £465.85. That’s still decent value, considering the camera costs £74.99 by itself.

When did Smyths Toys last restock?
Another likely contender for a Switch 2 restock today is Smyths Toys. The retailer had a fresh batch of consoles available on Monday, enough to last for several hours, giving shoppers plenty of time to grab Nintendo’s new handheld.
Like Currys, you might also be able to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 by visiting your local bricks-and-mortar Smyths Toys. Tell them Steve sent you. They won’t know what you mean and nothing special will happen, but it will make you look mysterious.

Could EE and Argos restock the Switch 2 today?
The favourites for a restock today are EE and Argos.
Both retailers have regularly popped up with fresh stock of the Nintendo Switch 2 since pre-orders first launched on 8 April, with healthy availability that sticks around for a few hours rather than a few minutes.
This implies that EE and Argos are consciously managing their limited supply of the new console, building up enough units before opening their doors to a new round of pre-orders. Both retailers also tend to have stock of the standalone console and the Mario Kart World bundle.
