The console is selling out across the UK (Alex Lee/The Independent)

It’s been almost a week since launch, and the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold out at almost every UK retailer. Most stock went live on Thursday, with a few trickling through on Friday, but by the weekend, it was all gone.

Most major retailers, including Argos, Currys, ShopTo, Smyths Toys and even Nintendo’s own site, have now run dry. EE, which had limited stock for existing mobile customers, has also sold out.

But there’s good news: Amazon has just restocked the console, giving shoppers another shot at bagging one. More drops are expected throughout the week as well, with both Smyths Toys and Currys tipped to restock soon. Keep checking back for live updates.

Where to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 right now

Nintendo Switch 2 specs

I've already nabbed a console - here's how to get your own

The Switch 2 might look familiar, but there’s a lot going on underneath. It’s powered by a new custom Nvidia chip, so games don’t just load faster, they look better and run more smoothly. You get 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the original Switch), and most of that goes straight into powering games, not just background stuff.

The screen is still LCD, not OLED, but it’s bigger at 7.9in and has 1080p resolution. It supports HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop more, and motion looks buttery-smooth in handheld mode. There’s also DLSS upscaling built in, so older games look better. Sadly, while it supports variable refresh rates, it doesn’t work when docked – just in handheld mode.

The Nintendo Switch 2 on its own costs £399.99, and the main bundle with Mario Kart World costs £429.99. Buying the bundle saves you £40 compared to picking up the game separately, so it’s better value if you’re planning to grab it anyway.

No big discounts yet – it’s not even been out a week, after all – but some retailers have larger, more expensive bundles. These include the new Switch 2 camera (£49, Amazon.co.uk), the Pro controller (£74.99, Very.co.uk) and the official carry case and screen protector (£20.99, Amazon.co.uk), as well as extra games and accessories.

Nintendo Switch 2 launch games

There are plenty of new Nintendo Switch 2 games at launch. Mario Kart World is the big one, but you’ve also got upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, plus mammoth games like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Hogwarts Legacy – two games that really test the console’s muscle.

Other launch day games include Hades 2, Split Fiction, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Street Fighter 6, Survival Kids and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. You’ve also got Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Deltarune Chapters 1–4, plus more niche picks like Fantasy Life i and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD. Civilization VII and No Man’s Sky are here too, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour acts as a mini showcase for the new hardware.

On top of that, loads of older Nintendo titles have been patched with free performance updates, and Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II are now available through the new Switch Online GameCube library.

Nintendo Switch 2 stock tracker and updates

The Nintendo Switch 2 has sold out at Amazon

Aaaaand it’s gone. After half an hour, Amazon has now sold out of both the standalone Switch 2 console and the Mario Kart World bundle. Well done to anyone who managed to secure one.

Missed out? It’s worth giving the two listings a refresh. Stock tends to reappear shortly after it sells out, but it’s not guaranteed.

The Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle is selling fast

According to the Amazon listing, there are just 11 Mario Kart World bundles left at Amazon, so if you haven’t picked up a console yet, it’s go time.

The standalone console has already sold out, but if you want to play games from day one – this is the bundle you need.

EE removes Nintendo Switch 2 listings as customers report delays

EE has quietly removed all listings for the Nintendo Switch 2 from its website, after customers claimed orders were delayed and stock was no longer available.

One of our readers, Jamie Winters, placed an order with EE first thing on launch day. On Friday morning, he contacted me to say he hadn’t received a dispatch update and had been told by EE customer services that delivery could take up to 14 days, reportedly due to “overselling”.

“I ordered yesterday expecting an email about delivery and because I’m massively impatient I rang today to get information on lead times, and that’s what I got told,” Jamie said on Friday.

On Monday afternoon, Jamie said he was told by EE that all Switch 2 stock was now unavailable. According to him, existing orders hadn’t been cancelled, but were sitting in the system as “open sales orders”, meaning they’d been accepted, but wouldn’t be fulfilled until new stock arrived.

After flagging Jamie’s experience with EE’s press office later that day, all Switch 2 product listings were removed from the site. EE has not publicly confirmed a restock date at the time of writing.

“Even the stock showing as available – the bundle with the membership – isn’t actually available apparently,” Jamie added. “They’ve basically told me to wait it out or cancel.”

If you placed an order through EE and haven’t received a dispatch email yet, it’s worth calling up to check on your order.

For now, Amazon still has stock. The standalone console has now sold out, but the Mario Kart World bundle is still available.

Amazon also has the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console in stock

And now the standalone console has also been restocked. This one costs £395.99, but it doesn’t come with Mario Kart World.

Again, if you’re a Prime member, it’ll arrive tomorrow if you order it right now.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is back in stock at Amazon

Amazon has just restocked the Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Kart World! No idea how long it’ll last for, so if you’re looking for a console, Amazon is the only place you can secure one.

It costs £429.99 and it will arrive tomorrow if you’re an Amazon Prime member.

Nintendo Switch 2 stock trackers, activate

Good morning! Or bad morning, if you’re hunting for a Nintendo Switch 2. EE – the last retailer still clinging to stock – has now completely sold out. That means there are currently no UK retailers with consoles available online.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for any surprise drops throughout the day, so keep checking back for the latest updates.

Where can you buy a Switch 2 right now?

Still looking for a Nintendo Switch 2? Right now, EE continues to be the only retailer with stock available.

Smyths Toys says on its website that it’ll have stock starting tomorrow, so if you aren’t an EE customer, that’s your next best bet.

HMV sells out of the Nintendo Switch 2 within minutes

Aaand it’s gone. That was quick – I call it five minutes.

If you didn’t secure a console, there’s a chance HMV could drop more – it tends to come back in and out of stock at the retailer, so keep refreshing and remember to pop your email in to the listings so you get notified if it comes back in stock.

Alex Lee9 June 2025 15:20

HMV has just restocked the Nintendo Switch 2

It’s our first restock of the week. HMV has just restocked both the Nintendo Switch 2 standalone console, as well as the Mario Kart World bundle.

There’s a queue, so you might have to wait, but it’s the only place where you can buy a Switch 2 (without needing a mobile phone contract).

Switch 2 stock recap: EE, Currys and Smyths

Here’s where things stand right now if you’re still trying to track down a Switch 2 console.

EE is still the only retailer with the console in stock, but only for existing mobile customers. The 24-month bundle includes the console, Mario Kart World, a 12-month Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, and EE’s Gamer’s and Video Data Passes. It costs £20 upfront, then £22 per month.

Currys doesn’t have any stock available to order online right now, but there are signs of movement. The site has quietly added new Switch 2 bundles, including ones with Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6. Those weren’t listed at launch – that usually signals an incoming restock. A few readers have also reported seeing consoles on display in-store, so it might be worth popping in to ask.

Smyths Toys is showing no stock for home delivery, but in-store availability is expected to land later this week.
