7-Eleven is suing Nike, alleging the sportswear company copied its distinctive red, orange, and green stripe branding for an upcoming Air Max 95 trainer.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Dallas, claims Nike’s design creates a “confusingly similar imitation” that could mislead consumers into believing the shoe is endorsed by 7-Eleven.

The convenience store chain highlights that the trainers are set to launch on 11 July, which 7-Eleven celebrates as ‘7-Eleven Day’ with promotions and free Slurpees.

7-Eleven states it attempted to resolve the issue with Nike prior to legal action, but Nike reportedly refused to alter its plans for the shoe’s release.

The company is seeking a court order to prevent Nike from selling the trainers, a recall of any distributed units, and monetary damages, including Nike’s profits from sales.
