  • Kyrgios is trying to resurrect career after long injury layoff

Nick Kyrgios has found himself at the centre of fresh controversy after sharing a photo with a rapper currently out on $1.8million bail over alleged kidnapping and assault charges.

The tennis star posted the black and white image on Instagram showing him seated beside Ay Huncho – real name Ali Younes – during a performance at Canberra’s Fiction nightclub on May 9.

Younes, a rapper from Western Sydney, is alleged to have ties to the Alameddine crime syndicate and recently had his bail conditions amended to allow him to perform shows around Australia.

In the photo, Kyrgios appears relaxed while Ay Huncho’s ankle monitor is clearly visible.

News Corp reported that the caption read: ‘Keep waiting on it @ayhuncho’ was paired with four freezing face emojis, before the post was deleted from Kyrgios’ account.

Ay Huncho also reportedly re-shared the image, and it remains visible on the nightclub’s official profile.

There is no suggestion Kyrgios has any involvement with the Alameddine network.

Younes is accused of ambushing a man at a suspected drug house in Granville, allegedly dragging the victim into a garage and beating him unconscious.

Court documents state Younes and others were heard laughing and discussing the assault in an audio recording.

The alleged victim was hospitalised but refused to co-operate with police.

Despite an initial $500,000 surety offer being denied over flight risk concerns, Younes was later granted bail with his friends and family putting up a staggering $1.8million.

The rapper’s rising profile comes amid his ongoing national tour, with upcoming performances in Melbourne and an final show in Adelaide on May 30.

Kyrgios’ choice of company follows his recent breakup with long-time girlfriend and influencer Costeen Hatzi.

The pair began dating in 2021 and were often seen together at public events before announcing their split in March.

Hatzi later stated, ‘We haven’t spoken. Relationships sometimes end, and I believe it’s for the best.’

Kyrgios’ form on the tennis court has also taken a hit since reaching the Wimbledon final in 2022.

A string of injuries, including knee and wrist issues, led to surgery and several tournament withdrawals.

His comeback at the 2025 Brisbane International ended in a first-round loss, followed by a pull-out from Indian Wells due to recurring pain.

He is set to return at the French Open in the men’s doubles alongside Jordan Thompson, marking his first appearance at Roland Garros in eight years.

Off the court, Kyrgios has also listed his $1.6million Sydney penthouse for sale, which he bought in 2022.

Property records suggest he used the apartment as his fulltime base while in the city.

In the entertainment world, Kyrgios is also expanding his brand with OnlyFans’ new OFTV series ‘Smash City.’

The four-episode series blends celebrity and sport, with Kyrgios co-hosting alongside reality star Sophie Stonehouse and adult film icon Rachel Starr.
